Today is a day at leisure. Spend your first day taking a stroll along Alii Drive

KAILUA-KONA (HAWAII)
Take a drive to Kealakekua Bay (the site where Captain Cook first anchored his ship). Kealakekua Bay is a great spot for snorkelling. Then head to Pu’u Honua O Honaunau (the ancient Hawaiian Place of Refuge), here you will learn see how in ancient Hawaii canoes were built, fishing tools were made, and how the Hawaiian Villagers lived. From here you will head to the Painted church.

VOLCANO ADVENTURE (125 miles)
Today you will get to visit an active volcano so suggest you start the day early. You will be heading south on Highway 11. This will take you to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Take a few hours to tour around the rim of the crater, visit the Jagger Museum, and try to squeeze in time for the Thurston Lava Tube. Please remember to bring along with you sunscreen, water, sneakers, and flashlight is suggested. There are many hiking trails to adventure through, a winery to buy some unique gifts, or take a drive down chain of Crater Road towards the ocean to see if you can catch a glimse of lava flowing.

HILO
On your way to Hilo drive to Kalapana and Pahoa to see first hand the destruction that Lava has done to ancient towns of Hawaii. While in Hilo take advantage of this opportunity to see Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls two of Hawaii’s most famous waterfalls. In the evening, if you wish, suggest going to Kalapana to possibly get a chance to see the red of the lava flowing into the Pacific Ocean.

Today is a day of leisure to explore the quiet town of Hilo.

WAIMEA
Today you drive the Highway 11 North East to Waimea. You will go through many small towns before getting to Waipio Valley. Take a stroll into the valley to see the Kalo Fields (Taro) and how they are farmed. Settle down in Waimea a very peaceful town.

WAIKOLOA
This will be your day of leisure. Explore Waikoloa from their Shops to their Golfing there is something for everyone.
